Role play? We may see it as something cheesy in movies or deep in the recommendations of a “sex tips” section in magazines, yet we do it every year. Does Halloween ring a bell?

Halloween is the time of year we all look forward to: The themed parties, the fun photos, running around like crazy to get last minute costume items. If we take roleplaying this seriously for Halloween, it’s obvious how much fun dressing up can be in the bedroom.

Role play is so much more than a costume

Beyond the costume, dressing up in the bedroom is a chance to live out fantasies, play certain characters, and add an element of thrill you’ve been seeking. Have you always had a crush on TinkerBell? Wanted to live out your Cat Woman fantasy? Waiting for Iron Man to swoop in and save you? Role play opens up the arena, making anything possible… with sex.

What’s your ideal role play fantasy?

Before roleplaying, have a conversation with your partner about it. Discuss what characters, costumes, or scenes have interested you: Have fun with this portion! You can set up a scenario with your partner, decide on characters, and discuss what you would like done. None of it has to make sense, which is the best part. If you want to dress like a hot nurse and they want to be a safari guide, make it happen and see how those two characters can come (and cum) together. 

Be your partner’s fantasy

Has your partner ever expressed that naughty cop fantasy or wanted to see you with blond hair? Now is the chance. Some have avoided role-play because they feel it’s their partner desiring someone else. This is rarely the case, more so, they are excited to see another version of you. Besides, what would be the fun of role-play without you in it? Talk to your partner about their fantasies, and vice versa. You’ll be surprised at the juicy ideas you come up with together, and actually get to live out. 

Embrace your alter ego with practice

Ideally, you’ll want to prepare for this moment and get into your character. Your character is not you, it’s your alter ego. Where you may be shy in person, perhaps your alter ego is daring and bratty. Perhaps you lead a dominant life, and your character takes a submissive, receiving role. We totally get it though: Acting and embracing an alter ego can make us nervous, or even give us stage fright. For this reason, practice being them in your day to day life. Think, how would Cat Woman start her day? Respond to that message? Put on her lingerie? 

If you’re having trouble with inspiration, try mirroring a movie scene. Observe how a character walks, talks, and even their mannerisms. Are they fast to respond? Move sexually? Talk loudly or low? Just a bit of practice can really make or break this piece. When we embody, we become – and your partner will love seeing you switch into character. 

Set the role play scene

The scene is almost as important as the characters and costumes! Plan out the best time, place, and what you need to make the fantasy come to life. Do you need to get props? Make decorations? Maybe plan out something daring, like saving your partner in public? If you aren’t sure about the setting, try meeting each other in public as “strangers”. While in your character, introduce yourself to each other and let the fantasy flow from there. Halloween is the best time to do it, and no eyes will turn your way as you both enjoy the most creative of thrills. 

Make your role play sexier with sex toys

How can you use sex toys to add to your scene and character? Say you’re meeting in public, can your partner control a vibrator while you act out your scene with the We-Vibe Jive? Whoever said that Halloween is meant to just give you the chills is doing it wrong. On the contrary, what better time to snuggle real close to someone special for body heat—and, of course, some hot action—than this season? On that note, here are the 11 sexiest Halloween movies to help you and your boo get spooky…

1. The Witch (2015)

Aside from being one of the best horror movies in recent memory, The Witch has perhaps one of the greatest scenes in movie history that combines the jitters you get from horror and the tingles you get from seeing Anya Taylor-Joy’s Thomasin character strip in the woods. Because a good sexy Halloween movie doesn’t just make your hair stand up, it also makes other parts of you rise.

2. Cat People (1982)

Hey, just because we’re talking about Halloween movies doesn’t mean it all has to be about horror! Cat People is part fantasy, part romance, and all sexy. That’s thanks to Nastassja Kinski, who plays Irena, a human-cat hybrid that’s got to do the nasty with her own kind in order to not go full feline. Plus, this movie gave the world a classic David Bowie ditty, so everyone wins.

3. Queen of the Damned (2002)

Queen of the Damned is possibly one of the most under-appreciated horror movies of the 2000s, if not cinema history. It features great acting from its stars—which is surprising considering that one of the main actors is primarily an R&B singer—a great story, and most of all, Aaliyah’s costume which bares enough skin to get your blood flowing and, at the same time, covers her enough to get that imagination of yours going. Mmm! Mmm!

4. Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

Before vampires sparkled and became emo fuckboys on the big screen, they used to be dashing, gentlemanly bon vivants. And Gary Oldman’s take on the grandpappy of all vampires gives audiences one of the most sensual depictions of the character. Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Francis Ford Coppola’s stylistic choices here, which gave the movie that whole sophisticatedly sexy feel to it.

5. From Dusk ‘til Dawn (1996)

No one does grindhouse cinema better than Robert Rodriguez, and From Dusk ‘til Dawn has that cinematic subgenre in spades. With its over-the-top action and gore, this one’s become a boner-fide cult classic. But what really helped cement this movie’s reputation is that dance scene performed by none other than Salma Hayek, who plays a vampire queen Santanico Pandemonium in this flick. Plus, this is the only movie where Quentin Tarantino’s acting doesn’t make us want to vomit in our mouth.

6. The Neon Demon (2016)

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Elle Fanning is the kind of actress that boosts the sexiness meter of whatever she’s in. In fact, we’ll even say she’s the thinking man’s Megan Fox: sexy, but not in the way that will have you rubbing one out in the theater (that’s a good thing, by the way). Neon Demon, a suspense thriller about supermodels, shows Elle Fanning in perfect form. And we mean that both in her capacities as a performer and her sultry, slender physique.

7. Species (1995)

We know a great many deal of boys who became men when they watched this movie, and that’s thanks to Sil, Natasha Henstridge’s character in this sci-fi horror classic. Now, if you’re the kind who likes it rough, then look no further than Species to give you gratuitous amounts of sex and gore. On the other hand, if you’re the squeamish type, then we suggest you close your eyes every time Natasha Henstridge touches a man in this movie. Don’t worry, you’ll still get an eyeful of her tasty curves either way.

8. Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)

Are vampires the sexiest kind of movie monsters? Yes. Is Tom Hiddleston the kind of guy you’d want making you a cup of coffee after a night of romantic whoopee? Yes. And is Tilda Swinton an androgynous goddess that could turn you on regardless of your gender? That, too, is a yes. And Only Lovers Left Alive manages to tick off this sexy trifecta.

9. Jennifer’s Body (2009)

Casting Megan Fox as the titular (not to mention literal) man-eater in this movie automatically gives Jennifer’s Body an unfair advantage over other sexy Halloween movies, which is why we didn’t rank this one higher. We mean, come on: it’s Megan Fox! Even Peewee’s Playhouse becomes sexy if you put her in it. We’re not going to spoil any juicy details here, but rest assured you won’t get as turned on by blood with any other movie the way this one uses it. Stay foxy, Megan.

10. An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Now, this John Landis-helmed horror classic is a great watch regardless of the season, but it’d be an all saints’ day sin if we didn’t tell you about the shower scene featuring Jenny Agutter in her prime. Her oh so delicious prime! Suffice it to say the scene alone is more than enough to land An American Werewolf in London in our list. David Naughton’s in that scene, too, who’s like a light version of Jeff Goldblum.

11. Interview with a Vampire (1994)

We’re going to settle this right off the gate: Interview with a Vampire is one of the hottest horror movies to have ever graced the silver screen. We’d even go so far as to say that this movie is Brokeback Mountain, but with FANGS! And even better, this was Brokeback Mountain even before that movie existed. Come on, that’s what happens when you put Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, and a Tom Cruise who was still 30% sane in one movie. Oh, and a young Kirsten Dunst is in it, too.

So, there you have it, guys and ghouls: the 11 sexiest Halloween movies to watch this season. I recommend watching these movies with a cute person nearby to comfort you during the scary scenes, and a whole bunch of toys to play with during the sexy scenes.

If your partner doesn’t have one of those open minds—like say for instance when you mention trying doggystyle, they respond, “I don’t know… is that the one where we sniff each other’s private parts beforehand?”—that’s totally okay. Halloween is your chance to seduce them otherwise.

What’s your lover into?

Find out who your partner’s celebrity or fictional crush is. Does the thought of playing with Thor’s mighty hammer relentlessly pervade their thoughts, or do their eyeballs spring from their sockets, before they slap the table in submission every time they see Jessica Rabbit?

It’s fine if you don’t know their crush and you aren’t comfortable asking them.

Maybe they’re fascinated by vampires or elves or even Furbys.

There’s almost certainly someone you could dress up as who your partner would be totally turned on to see (okay, so you might need to have a little sit down with them if they are turned on by Furbys). If possible, try and choose a character with an identifiable personality, so it’s easier to imitate. Otherwise it could become difficult to make the fantasy come to life.

Get into character.

Now you need to learn a little bit about this new persona. Do some research by watching a movie, show, or maybe even pick up a book.

Don’t stress too much about this part—there is no Oscar at the end of your performance (though you might get a standing Ooh-vation).

Just learn some phrases and basic behaviors of your subject. Now is also a good time to start brainstorming kinky things your character might say. This way, you will be better prepared in the moment.

Introduce yourself.

When Hallow’s Eve finally arrives, it’s time for your partner to learn their new playmate. Assuming you attend a Halloween party together, try whispering, in character, sexy things into your lover’s ear throughout the night.

For instance, if you dressed up as a vampire, try saying things like, “When we get home tonight, I want to suck your blood. I can’t get enough of the taste of you—all of you..”

This dirty talk will get them ready and in the mood, so it isn’t uncomfortable or a total surprise when you find yourselves alone, doing what you’ve been waiting for all night.

Become one of your partner’s fantasies.

Once you end up in the bedroom, it’s time to play—mau-ha-ha!

Let’s pretend again you chose to be a vampire. Begin to playfully bite your partner’s neck, just as a vampire would, and say something like, “I want to suck on your body like it is my sustenance — like I need it to live,” before tearing their clothes off.

You want to do your best to keep character throughout, so continue to talk and behave like a sexy vampire (or whichever character you chose) during the entire experience. It’s perfectly normal if you’re nervous, or if either (or both) of you laugh. It’s meant to be fun! Once you get through the initial awkward phase, you should expect all this to take you to a realm of unprecedented exhilaration.

Enjoy the high of becoming so engrossed in your character, it almost becomes an out-of-body experience.

Another benefit you might notice is the lowering of your inhibitions as you take on this new character. You’re somebody else, remember? Normally you might not be open to certain things, but this new sexually confident or wild persona you’ve adopted is totally into them. You’re Kim Kardashian who loves the idea of a sextape, or you’re The Joker who likes to get really, really freaky. Maybe that thing your lover has been asking of you which you weren’t sure about, will suddenly seem like a lovely idea.

You’ve got the costume, now try some props.

You’re all geared up for the roleplaying scenario of your dreams, and now let’s talk about sex toys. Choose these carefully to suit your character.
